Mickes entrepreneurial path started when he was studying at Hanken school of economics. Noticing that there were no computers in the school Micke and a friend of his started selling Macintosh computers. Quickly after that they noticed a need for more software for the computers. Studying economics they naturally started looking for finance-related software and they found a good program in Sweden. But since the software lacked some features they started cooperating with the vendor in developing the software further, and that was how Micke's first startup, which later became Hansaworld, was founded. Today Hansaworld employs over 400 people.
Since then Micke has worked as CFO for among others the Wallenberg family holding company Incentive for Operations and he has founded Telepo, Scentara, Raited, Tribeversum and now Kiosked. He has been and is an active investor, advisor and Board member in many startups as well as at the Foundation for Finnish Inventions and Aalto Entrepreneurship Society. Among his credentials are also two exits of which one was to Oracle and another to Ledstiernan.
So what is Mickes advice to startups?
- Build a vision and live with it.
- Believe in yourself but remember to listen to other people.
- Learn how to sell.
- Learn to fail. If you can't fail, you can't enjoy victory.
- Help other people.
- Focus on cash-flow.
- Remember to have fun and enjoy.
